The hope is to keep this updated on a semi-regular basis with what's going on in our lives. So check back, maybe there will be something new.

12/24/09 - Kaden's First Christmas

The holiday season always starts with a light parade put on by the local fire department. It was a cold night that night, but Kaden liked all the lights.

We got the tree decorated a couple weeks before Christmas. The train was a nice touch given to Kaden by his Grandma Postma.

Christmas for our family starts on Christmas eve. We get together with Anje's family for dinner and gifts. Kaden was more excited about the wrapping paper and bows than the actual gifts themselves.

Christmas morning was spent at home where Kaden got to open his hugiant stocking Ryan's aunt Caryn made for him...I don't know how we're going to fill it up each year.

We spent some time Christmas day (Friday) at Ryan's parents house. Then Saturday was with Ryan's extended family.

It was three days, five outfits, a lot of fun, and by the end we were all ready to crash.

12/5/09 - Xmas Tree Hunting

The plan was to go up in the snow with Anje's family to cut down our Christmas tree, but the snow was too deep where we were planning on going. Instead, we still went up to Portland to visit, and ended up at a U-cut tree farm.

Kaden even found a tree his size.

11/26/09 - Thanksgiving

Kaden was our "Little Turkey".... his PJ's told us so.

10/31/09 - Halloween

Gma and Gpa Clarke came down to watch the Ducks beat up on USC and see their grandson, the cutest dinosaur ever.

We hit one house for trick-or-treating....Gma & Gpa Postma's....no candy this year even though he has one tooth.

10/28/09 - Pumpkin Patch

The idea was to go get pumpkins the weekend before Halloween, but Anje got sick with the Swine Flu and was still recovering.

There was a break in the weather on Wednesday so we got Kaden bundled up, went out to Thistledown Farms after work, and caught the last hay ride out to the Pumpkin Patch.

No carving this year.

10/10/09 - Chapman Alumni Water Polo Game

This was a lot of firsts for Kaden. First plane ride, first time in Southern California, and first time meeting our friends from college, along with all of their new babies.

Saturday was jam packed. We started the day with a 5K walk. Ryan played in the Alumni Water Polo Game. Ciji & Adrianna came to visit us for Ice Cream at Watsons. Then it was time to get all the kids together and hang out at BJ & Danielle's.

Total: Two 3-year-olds, One 7-month, Two 5-month, Two 3-month.

Oh how the conversations have changed since college.

9/5/09 - Olsen Wedding

Kaden got to get all dressed up to go to a wedding.

He was mostly interested in GG's sandwich.

Congrats Trevor & Kristin.

8/22/09 - Sunriver 2009

Technically, this was Kaden's 2nd trip to Sunriver... Anje was pregnant last time. It was more work and more fun with the two babies.

We went on a 7.5 mile hike around Paulina Lake, played marshmallow golf, and got in the big pool with Kaden for the first time....He was pretty nonchalant about being in the water.

8/15/09 - Crater Lake

Anje's brother Cody invited us to go camping at Crater Lake with him and some of his friends.

Ryan spent a long weekend before cleaning up his parents trailer and getting it ready to be back on the road. Good thing too, the temp outside got below freezing at night.

Kaden really enjoyed being outdoors, and it was a great place to take photos.

8/2/09 - Columbia Gorge Drive

We spent the weekend in Vancouver, WA so Kaden could meet Anje's Uncle Jerry & Aunt Kaye.

Dick led us on a drive around the Columbia Gorge, stopping off at Multnomah Falls, the Vista House, plus Tad's for dinner, and a group shot.

7/17/09 - 2nd Anniversary Weekend

We continued our tradition of heading up to Hood River and having dinner at Stonehedge Gardens....where we were married.

This was the first mini vacation with Kaden. We rented a little condo, watched the kite boarders on the Columbia, and drove up to the Stonhenge replica monument.

All-in-all, a fun trip, and the last weekend away before Anje had to go back to work.

7/4/09 - 4th of July Weekend

The whole family participated in this year's Butte to Butte. It was a nice 4.5 mile walk across town to kick off the 4th of July.

That night, we found a place to watch the fireworks from around the city then went home for sparklers. Kaden loved the bright flashes of light from the fireworks.

Sunday, we took him to the wading pool for his first dip.

6/17/09 - Florence, OR

We took Kaden to go see the ocean for the first time. It was a nice little day trip before Ryan has to go back to work.

6/11/09 - Took Kaden to Gma Postma's 3rd grade class for show-and-tell. He was awake and happy the whole time. When we got home, he was tired.
6/3/09 - Rylie doesn't mind, but Kaden's not too sure yet.

5/30/09 - Function4Junction 2009

We took Kaden to see all the shiny cars. He slept through most of them, but it was good to get him outside.

5/28/09 - Kaden is 5 weeks old

He's getting bigger and stronger every day.
Enjoy the pics.

You can now find us on Facebook. We held out as long as possible.

5/25/09 - Memorial Day

We usually spend Memorial Weekend with friends, but this year, with Kaden being only a month old and Danielle so close to being a Mom herself (Yeah!!), traveling wasn't in the cards for anyone.

This year, Kaden took is first overnight trip to go see Grandma & Grandpa Clarke's house in Vancouver, WA.

We went to Willamette National Cemetery in Portland where Anje's Grandpa is honored as one of our nation's Veterans.

5/10/09 - Mother's Day

The day started out with giving Kaden his first "real" bath. His umbilical cord came off the day before so we were able to put him in the water.

We got a 4-Generation photo with Kaden, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma.

4/23/09 - Kaden James Postma
Anje was 2 days past her due date. We
went into the doctors office for an
ultrasound to make sure everything was
okay. The ultrasound showed the baby at
9lbs 10oz.

After discussing options with the doctor, she
recommended scheduling a C-Section for
the next morning.

We checked into Sacred Heart Medical
Center at Riverbend at 8:15am on Thursday
the 23rd of April, and Kaden James Postma
was born at 10:46am
weighing 9lbs 9oz. and 21 inches long.

We came home from the hospital Sunday
evening. Anje's mom stayed with us for a
few days at home while she was recovering
from the surgery.

Recovery went well and mom and baby are
doing great.

Kaden has been a fantastic baby. He sleeps
in 3-4 hour chunks at night which has been a
lot better than we were expecting. During
the day he's very relaxed and just likes to
hang out.

First Family Photo

We went home from the hospital Sunday April 26th.

March 2009
We purchased an unfinished changing table/dresser and Anje's dad and I spent a Saturday building the cubby-hole toy box.

I painted both pieces to match the crib. It took a couple tries, and far too many nights in the garage, but they came out nice.

3/27/09 - Maternity Pics
A relative asked us to pose for some maternity photos to help build up her portfolio. These were taken at Skinner Butte Park. It was a lot of fun and she did a great job.
If you're looking for a photographer in the Eugene area, check her out. I will post a link as soon as she gets her website going.

Thanks Cristin!
